Allie: This isn't going to be an episode of the Sex History Show. Randal: But we'll still be looking behind a few bushes... John: Instead of a regular episode, we want to give a quick heads-up to our listeners. Randal: We've all seen the pervasive fear campaign that is being waged against sex in the United States. It comes from religion, some parts of the media and, most disturbingly, from the US government. The National Abstinence Education Association aims to force abstinence on 'children' until they are 28 years old! Allie: The US government spends BILLIONS of dollars on abstinence-only 'sex education', targeted at kids, teens, and even ADULTS up to age 29. Worse, these programs are filled with wild distortions.
John: Crazy things like every time you use a condom, there is a 1 in 7 chance of a pregnancy. Even sex without a condom isn't that likely to get you pregnant! Randal: This US-funded campaign teaches ONLY about abstinence, leaving children defenseless and unprepared for when they do have sex. Allie: The kids taught only about abstinence have sex for the first time a few months later than those with a more reasonable sex education. However, those few months come at a terrible price: abstinence-only kids don't protect themselves from disease and pregnancy. John: The folks over at Sex Is Fun have cooked up an audio clip that is a much more honest and helpful treatment of sex education. You can listen to it right here.Randal: Please, pass this link or the audio clip along to anyone you thing might need it: your own kids, families struggling with talking to their kids about sex, and sex educators. Allie: We really have to visit this topic on our show sometime. I mean, how did people get it into their head that they shouldn't teach kids anything about sex? John: And how it got funded by our government! Randal: We'll have to get on that. In the meantime, take a look at the sex education clip and pass it along. Allie: And we'll be back with a regular show in a few days. Go take a listen to "Comprehensive Sex Education". Pass it along to everyone who needs to hear it! |
